Birthday card.

Just a quick post tonight. Here's a quick card I made for a friends birthday this week.

I used the Stampin' up owl punch and October Afternoon papers

Love this punch and it makes for a really quick little card. Just punch out, some paper piecing and matting and layering and your done!

Heres the card and present (I love adding badges to pressies at the moment)

Thats it for a while as i'm off on my hols, see you soon.

UK Scrapers Rock God Swap.

I have to say I found this a lot harder than i imagined it would, but once I started it I really enjoyed it.
I got given Mike Patton from Faith No More to base my Fan pack on.
Couldn't believe that there was not even a bag  or sticker that  could buy in the UK of Faith No More. So I had to make everything I do hope my swap partner likes it!

So heres what I sent (sorry about the quality of the photos didn't realise they were so poor until I put them on the PC).

Here's a Keychain I made using Tim Holtz fragments and swivel chain, I thought the listen token was very fitting.

Next I put together a little mini album including pictures of the lovely Mr Patton and interesting facts. Don't know if you can make out in the second photo but I added a little word search as well

A little notebook and pencil that I collaged with pictures.

And lastly I made some simple magnets, a bookmark, backstage pass, a badge and a choclate bar that i wrap in a cartoon print of the band (can't swap without chocolate!).

So thats it for tonight, will blog a card that I've made tomorrow.

Sorry i've been away so long!

Oh my I really didnt image life would get in the way of me posting on my little blog.
I have not been well for the past fortnight, have had a dreadful chest infection which is starting to get better after a course of antibiotics and then at school we had ofsted what a couple of weeks.
However despite this i did have a surprisingly relaxing and enjoyable Bank holiday.
Enjoying a lime cooler from starbuck as the weather was so nice

Husband spotted this male sparrowhawk with a thrush, he was on the garden for about 40 minutes busy plucking the feathers and fighting off a magpie before eating it

A delicious dinner of tapes enjoyed on the garden

I baked a bloomer, this is the third  thing I've made from paul Hollywood's bread book and they've  all be great, I can heartily recommend it

And sunday saw us in Hereford at a vintage and textiles fair that my daughter was having her pop up studio at.

We visited Goodridge castle which was a 10 minute drive away, we've been a few times before so didn't spend too long looking round but was able to enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of cake from the tearoom whilst crocheting in the glorious  weather

I've also been shopping for some holiday things and the latest hummingbird bakery book just fell into my amazon basket as did the tim holtz ticket die (thats for a swap I'm in on uk scrappers) but more of that later.

I also spent Wednesday night in Nottingham at the Benefit brow bar, wow they do a great shape and tint. Plus I'm back this Wednesday at a VIP party so i shall blog about it and the goodie bag everyones getting.

Promise ~I shall try not to leave it so long again,

Ironman!

I got asked by Lily of The Octopode Factory to design something using her Ironman stamp in honor of Ironman 3 coming out this week (i've been standing in for DD who is a design team member).

Well I must say i really wasn't sure what to do but knew i wanted to try a monochrome look as well as try out a coloured version.

So heres what I came up with.....

A matching tag and card set using both versions

The card is simple a coloured in image which was layered onto an alcohol inked background.
I stamped the base card with a Paperartsy mini gears stamp.

I also added some Tim Holtz rivets to the corners

And as i had done a coloured version as well, i thought I would make that into a tag.

I've had great fun doing these and the whimsical bee card in my last post, make sure you check out all the other fab designs on the Octopode factory blog.

The great sewing bee!

Well I've been standing in for Gorgeous daughter at Octopode factory for an insects theme.

I picked this cute whimsical bee image.

The background is inked with dylusion inks and stamped with a grid stamp that i've had for years in Tim Holtz distress ink.

The bee is coloured in promarkers and i made a tiny stencil with a hole punch to add some detail to his cap.
I stamped out the cotton reels and needle i think this is a maya road stamp set and then added some thread so the bee could hole.

Can you see the thread?
I rather like it!

A Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my gorgeous daughter whos 22 today,
wow how has that happened so fast.

Unfortunately this is the first year that she won't be spending the day with us as shes on holiday so we gave her her gifts last weekend when we visited her in Hereford.

Her main gift is for a vintage photoshoot at the custard factory in Birmingham, I think she will love this and as she's a photograph i'm sure she can pick up a few tips. Check out her website Lifes capture moments

Onto her card i made her, i just loved making this.

So first I drew out the peter pan design (excuse the coffee stain on Wendy!) , then traced over it and used that to transfer the image onto white paper.

Next I cut out the image using a lovely sharp scalpel blade, i love new blades!

Then I mounted it on some polka dot distress paper from DCWV once upon a time pad, though its hard to tell from the photo. Then I simply added it to a large square card with some washi tape and 2 gems. I rather like it and think i shall cut myself one to make into a picture.

And here's the inside, I think it can apply to everyone.

I shall have to post soon with cake pictures! Toodle  pip.

Card Craft

I've finely made some cards this week, I dont know whats wrong with me lately I keep buying stuff, have lots of ideas but just cant make the leap to go into the craft studio and crack on.
Anyhow the first one is really simple using some wooden shapes from Hobbycraft that i was given in a swap.
matted and layered on some paper i've had for years and a stamped bunting image which came free with a magazine and coloured in promarkers. I've got several bunting stamps that i've bought but this is by far my favourite.

Next up I got a little messy with some inks.
Right if I can remember i used chipped sapphire, seedless preserve, ripe persimmon, spiced marmalade, and mustard seed distress inks blended together with a blending tool, it helps having more than one so you haven't got to keep changing the pads. Then I stamped with  tree line by Impression Obsession in black archival, I hadn't heard of this manufacturer before but bought this at the big stamp and scrapbook show back in September, i've cut my image in half to use on this card so you can see its quite large. I like to ink the stamp and take my paper to the stamp and rub over rather than putting it on a block, it seems to give a better impression.
I've made this card a couple of times now as its a good one for men and doesn't take that long but you still feel like you're creating.

Weekly round up.

Well I think I've finally got the hang of Blogger. Hooray! So heres a brief catch up with my week.

I got to visit my gorgeous daughter last Sunday down in Hereford to take her Birthday pressies and card down, it isn't until Tuesday but she is away for her birthday this year.
We like to stop on the way  at one of our favourite tea rooms, The Fold in Bransford.
Here we are waiting for our tea and scones, its a really cute place and very eco friendly as well.

As the weather has been getting better we've been managing to get out for a walk in the evenings round the reservoir nearby. Many of the ducks have begain nesting and we were lucky enough to spot a little water vole munching near the daffodils.
It has looked lovely in the evening light.

A trip to Wagamama in Meadowhall with a bit of shopping thrown in as we had nieces birthday
Yasai yaki Soba was demolished with a little help from my other half.

And we have consumed a fair amount of this, we it would be rude not to after people had thoughtful given them don't you think.
I love the wording on this Green and Blacks box.

There has been plenty of decorating but more on that another time.
Thats it for now, I will be back later with some baking and crafting to show you.

Anyone there?

Well here at last, I've been plotting to start a blog for a few years now and have finely taken the plunge.
So what shall I blog about?
Well I like paper-crafting and getting inky so could do that. I've  rather taken to crochet, not sure if I do enough to fill a whole blog though. How about my little ventures shopping and visiting places, not sure. Baking I love that but I would feel I'd have to bake more just to keep the blog going and more cake, that's not good for anyone! I could do it all, yes that's what I'd do.
So I do hope your be joining me on my little journey.
(Be patient with me I've a lot to learn)
